Protect your family and pets from Bisphenol A

bpa-free labels

Bisphenol A can be found in some labels – but NOT Wedge Labels!

The well-being of our customers is our number one priority. This is why we’ve done everything we can to ensure our products are free of harmful chemicals. From sourcing our raw materials from American paper mills, to manufacturing our label rolls in Ontario.

We are heavily involved in every step of production to ensure every product we make is 100% BPA free.

So, what is BPA? you may ask. BPA stands for bisphenol A. It is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. In the past decade, Health Canada has made the public aware of just how dangerous this substance is; making it the first regulatory body in the world to advise against the use of this chemical.

Exposure to BPA is harmful to your health. It can potentially cause anomalies in the development of children’s brains and research has linked it to increased blood pressure in adults. These risks have incentivised many North American companies to stop sourcing their materials from Asia –where the majority of paper contains Bisphenol A. Wedge Labels sets the example in the industry by ensuring suppliers abstain from using this chemical in their production.

Unfortunately, BPA is still widely use for the production of plastic. Which can be found in countless household products we use everyday. When I’m not wildly obsessing over labels, I like to read other blog articles. In one of my daily websites, I came across an informative article that explains how to reduce our exposure to BPA. You can read it here; however, here are the highlights:

  1. Eat fewer canned foods
  2. Choose cardboard and glass containers over cans
  3. Do not microwave polycarbonate plastic food containers
  4. Choose plastic or glass bottles for beverages
  5. Turn down the heat
  6. Use baby bottles that are BPA-free
  7. Use powdered infant formula instead of pre-mixed liquid

So there you have it folks. While many everyday items still contain this harmful chemical, there are quite a few steps you can take to protect yourself. The silver lining in all this is that you can rest assured when you receive our products, they will always be BPA free!

Until next time,
